Procedure to apply and obtain a visa to Cameroon

  • Cameroon offers e-visa applications online, wherein you can apply by registering and creating an account.
  • Once you apply online, you will receive notification via SMS or email.
  • Pay the fees and attend the interview, if any.
  • Once the application is processed, you will get the notification.
  • A notification is generated automatically and delivered to applicants who live in cities with competent missions by mail or SMS to set up a time to finish the biometric enrolment formality. Both processes must be finished within 72 hours of the online pre-enrollment. The deadline for express applications is going to be 24 hours from now.

Types of visa

1. Transit visa: Short stays en route to another country are valid for up to 24 hours.

Documents Required
  • a passport or other travel authorization that is valid for a minimum of six months;
  • a valid plane ticket good for the entire journey to the destination or any other documentation attesting to the trip’s continuation;
  • a visa or permission to enter the country of the intended destination;
  • A vaccination certificate is valid internationally.

2. Short Stay visa

Documents Required

  • a passport or other travel authorization that is valid for a minimum of six months;
  • A vaccination certificate is valid internationally.
  • A valid round-trip ticket.
  • proof of the visit’s goal, such as sufficient transportation and lodging options;
  • a formal hotel reservation for the anticipated length of stay, or better yet, a certificate of accommodations signed by the territorially competent mayor and issued by the host;
    a mission warrant if necessary;
  • a copy of the applicant’s residency certificate;
  • a record attesting to the applicant’s occupation;

3. Long stay visa

  • a passport or other travel authorization that is valid for a minimum of six months;
  • a plane ticket or equivalent travel authorization good for the entire distance to and including Cameroon;
  • international certifications of vaccinations;
  • an assurance of return;
  • an official confirmation of enrollment or re-registration from the educational institution where the candidate is enrolled;
  • an internship authorization signed by a qualified authority for interns;
  • a job contract that the Minister in charge of employment for foreign nationals hoping to work in Cameroon for pay initialed;
  • an authorization from the appropriate authority, where necessary, to practice a liberal profession or to further an industrial, economic, pastoral, artistic, or other activity;
  • a legal document establishing the spouse’s marital or filial links concerning minor dependent children;
  • a copy of the applicant’s residency certificate;
  • a record attesting to the applicant’s occupation;

4. Diplomatic or service visa

  • a passport for diplomatic or service purposes, or any other travel document that is valid for a minimum of six months;
  • a valid travel document or round-trip airline ticket;
  • A Verbale Remark for Passport Holders with Diplomatic and Service Status;
  • international certifications of vaccinations;
  • a defense of the visit’s objectives;
  • a formal hotel reservation for the anticipated length of stay, or better yet, a certificate of accommodations signed by the territorially competent mayor and issued by the host;
    a mission warrant if necessary;

What is the validity?

  • 5 days maximum for the transit visa
  • 6 months maximum for the short stay visa and
  • 12 months maximum for the long stay visa.

What is the cost of a Cameroon visa?

  • The standard short-stay visa costs €153€ (0 to 6 months).
  • 229 euros for a long-stay (six months to a year) regular visa
  • 229 euros for a short-term, expedited visa (0 to 6 months)
  • 305 euros for a long-stay (six months to a year) express visa
