Procedure to apply and obtain Tonga Passport

• You can apply either in person or via mail. If you intend to visit the office, please call ahead of time to schedule an appointment.
• Also, we can issue a legitimate emergency travel document and a Certificate of Identity in an emergency. If traveling to Tonga, the Certificate of Identity is valid for one (1) entry into Tonga. Once this entry is made, the Certificate of Identity can no longer be used. The traveler must apply for a new passport while in Tonga.
• Please be aware that all NEW PASSPORT APPLICATIONS are being scanned and sent to Tonga’s Immigration Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, for printing.

Documents Required

• Passport Application Form: Complete the official passport application form provided by the Tonga Immigration Department.
• Proof of Tongan Citizenship: Provide original or certified copies of documents proving your Tongan citizenship, such as a Tongan birth certificate, Tongan citizenship certificate, or Tongan national ID card.
• Proof of Identity: Submit original or certified copies of documents verifying your identity, such as a valid Tongan driver’s license or Tongan national ID card.
• Passport Photos: Include recent passport-sized photographs that meet the Tonga Immigration Department’s size, background color, and appearance specifications. Typically, two identical color photographs are required.
• Supporting Documents: You may be asked to provide additional supporting documents, such as proof of address (utility bills, rental agreement, etc.), proof of employment or income, or proof of travel plans (flight reservations, hotel bookings, etc.).
• Consent for Minors: If applying for a passport for a minor, you may need to provide additional documents, including the consent of both parents or legal guardians, the minor’s birth certificate, and proof of parentage.
• Application Fee: Prepare the required application fee payment in the accepted form of payment, such as cash or a bank draft, as specified by the Tonga Immigration Department.

Renewal of Tonga passport
