Types of Vietnam Passport

Procedure to apply and obtain Vietnam Passport

You can apply for a Vietnam passport in two ways:

In Person

Fill out the Form and Prepare the required documents
Submit the documents to the Immigration Office and Make a Payment
First-time passport applicants must do so at the provincial immigration department or city where they reside permanently or temporarily. If a citizen ID card is available, it should be done at the immigration management department of the provincial police or conveniently in cities run by the central government.

Application Form for Issuance of Vietnam Passport
2 portrait photographs.
Decision of the appropriate authority regarding the permission of the applicant to travel abroad.
Valid Identity Card or Citizen Identity Card or Passport (examined and verified by the Immigration Management Agency at the time of submission of application)\
Book of temporary residence (the applicant has not yet been issued a citizen ID card and submit an application for temporary residence).
Most recently issued diplomatic or official passport. If your Vietnam passport is lost, you must submit a written notification issued by the supervising officer.

Document issued by a competent authority in the host country proving your place of residence in that country.(Copy)
Document issued by a competent authority proving your Vietnamese nationality.(Copy)
Birth certificate for persons under 14 years of age.(Copy)
Most recently issued standard passport (if any). If your Vietnam passport is lost, you must submit a report of passport loss issued by the competent authority.
A certified proof of legal representative status issued by a competent authority if the passport applicant has lost capacity for civil actions, has difficulty in cognitive and behavioral control, or is under 14 years of age.

Passport Type	Validity
Ordinary Passport	Valid for 5 years from the date of issuance
Standard passport	valid for 10 years from the date of issuance, and non-renewable.
Diplomatic passport	Valid for 5 years from the date of issuance
Standard passport (issued via simplified procedures)	valid for 1 year
