How to attest Official Documents, Certificates and Commercial Invoices from MOFAIC Abu Dhabi


What is attestation?

A process known as attestation verifies that seals and signatures on papers issued in the United Arab Emirates or elsewhere are legitimate.

Documents issued by organizations in the UAE or other countries, such as: are attested through the MoFAIC’s attestation services offered in the UAE and through its missions overseas.

Why do we need to attest?

  • When going overseas for any reason, document attestation is a crucial service to authenticate your documents and credentials.
  • It verifies the contents of your document, as well as your signature and stamp, to demonstrate its legality for official or legal purposes.
  • The process of verifying and confirming the legitimacy of your documents is known as document attestation.
  • It is required for the application and approval processes for your visa.

Who will attest?

  • Attestation services are provided by MoFAIC in the UAE and by its missions abroad.

Documents required

  • Original document in English or Arabic (or an official translation of it)
  • The document must be attested by the appropriate governing bodies prior to submission
  • The document must not be laminated.

How to attest Official Documents, Certificates, and Commercial Invoices from MOFAIC Abu Dhabi

Procedure to attest Official Documents inside UAE

  • Login to the website.
  • Fill in the application
  • Make the payment
  • You will receive an SMS confirming the successful completion of the application.
  • delivering and receiving verified documents via a courier service.

For documents issued inside the UAE:

  1. The original document must be attested by the governing government entity except for digital documents issued by a government entity or documents attested electronically
  2. Apply for attestation in the UAE through MoFAIC online channels.
  3. Include the original document. If the document is digital or electronically attested, include a copy of it.
  4. The document can then be attested by one of our embassies or missions abroad by applying for attestation on our online channels.

Procedure to attest Official Documents outside UAE

  • Login to the website.
  • Fill in the application
  • Make the payment
  • You will receive an SMS confirming the successful completion of the application.
  • Visit the UAE mission to attest documents.

For documents issued outside the UAE:

1. Original document must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of issuing country.
2. Document can then be attested by one of UAE’s Embassy or Consulate in issuing country by applying through MoFAIC online channels.
3. Documents must be attested in the UAE by applying for attestation in the UAE through our online channels. Please include the original attested document.

Courier Service fees

MoFAIC offers various courier services for its customers in the UAE:

Normal: (3 working days) – up to 25 documents per transaction
Express: (1 working day) – up to 10 documents per transaction
Pre-paid Courier Service:  various packages for companies and entities – no documented limit – please contact us for details.
