State/Territory Sponsored Investor visa – Australia Visa: How to apply and obtain, Procedure, Documents required?


What is State/Territory Sponsored Investor visa?

This is a permanent residence visa for holders of the subclass State/Territory Sponsored Investor (Provisional) visa (subclass 165) who have held a designated investment of AUD750,000 for a period of four years.

Who are eligible?

  • If you are the primary bearer of a State/Territory Sponsored Investor (Provisional) visa, you may apply for this visa (subclass 165).
  • You must have lived in the State or Territory of your sponsoring authority for at least two years in the four years before your visa application as the holder of a State/Territory Sponsored Investor (Provisional) visa (subclass 165).
  • have a genuine and practical commitment to continue conducting business or investing in Australia.
  • You must be sponsored by the regional authority in the state or territory where you have lived for at least two years in the four years preceding your application for this visa.
  • There is no age limit for this visa.
  • You and any family members listed on your application must meet our health requirements.
  • You and any family members over the age of 16 who apply for the visa with you must meet our character requirements.
  • If you or any family members (including those who do not apply for the visa with you) owe money to the Australian Government, you must have paid it back or made arrangements to pay it back.
  • If you have had a visa revoked or refused while in Australia, you may not be eligible for this visa.

Procedure to apply 

  • You must pay the application cost before submitting your application for this visa. We will not process your application until you have paid the application fee. The fee is calculated and paid using Form 47BU.

  • You must mail or courier your application to the Adelaide Business Skills Processing Centre (with the appropriate prepaid postage). If you submit your application to any other office or in any other method, it will not be deemed valid and will be rejected.

  • You may be in or out of Australia when we decide on your visa application, but you must be in Australia if we grant you a visa. We will notify you of our decision in writing.

How long you will stay?

  • Your permanent residency for citizenship purposes begins on the day we grant the visa; if you are in Australia, you enter the country on this visa; if you are outside of Australia, you enter the country on another visa.

What is the cost?

  • The primary applicant must pay AUD2,570 for the visa. For family members who apply for the visa with you, there is also a fee.

What is the processing time?

  • Applications are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and because each situation is unique, processing timelines may vary.
