Our Godson went to the US Embassy in Kinshasa for his interview to get a 3 month NIV tourist visa. After studying for 9 years at the University of Kinshasa, he just graduated as a medical doctor and while he is waiting for his license # to be able to practice as a medical doctor, we invited him to visit us here in Pennsylvania. We have been supporting him financially during his study.
We are treating him as our son, invest in his future success in Congo and communicate daily with him from the US.
We are terribly saddened to report that the interview he expected never really took place. It was pure intimidation and abuse. He wasjust asked by the embassy agent why he wanted to visit the US. He just started to answer that we invited him. Before he could explain anything further, show any document, he was told that the visa was denied. I had given him a letter to show for the agent and other document.
He tried 2 times to say something but was interrupted and told “Goodbye” The whole thing lasted less than 3 minutes’ The agent’s prejudice and suspicion decided the case even before it started.
On your Embassy website you write:
We promise to you, the visa applicant, that:
We will treat you with dignity and respect, even if we are unable to grant you a visa.
We will treat you as an individual and your case as unique.
We will remember that, to you, a visa interview may be a new or intimidating experience and that you may be nervous.
We will use the limited time available for the interview to get as full a picture as possible of your travel plans and intentions…
We will post detailed and accurate information on visa requirements and application procedures on every Embassy and Consulate website.
We will explain the reason for any visa denial to you.
NONE OF THIS TOOK PLACE DURING OUR GOD SON VISIT AT THE US EMBASSY. Your agent broke every promise above. It was just intimidation. Our Godson was shocked and traumatized. As a Congolese, he had such different expectation from America.
We need this incident to be corrected. It is not acceptable
I hope to hear from you soon
