About Kuwait

The Arabian Peninsula state of Kuwait is situated on a peninsula of land in the Persian Gulf’s northwestern corner. Kuwait, a tiny emirate sandwiched between Iraq and Saudi Arabia, lies in the heart of the Sahara Desert, one of the world’s driest and least habitable places. There is a strong connection between Kuwait’s name and that of the Hindustani word kt, which means “fort.”

At 4.5 million people, about one-third of the population is Kuwaiti; the rests are expatriates and foreigners. Kuwait is the capital of the emirate (City). Although Arabic is the primary language of communication, English is widely used as a second language around the world. Islam is the state religion of Kuwait.

Why Kuwait is Famous?

  • City of Kuwait City’s skyline, which overlooks the clean waters of the Arabian Gulf, is both culturally and commercially vibrant.
  • There is no value-added tax in the Middle East, so everything you could possibly want can be found in the capital’s colorful souks and luxurious malls.
  • Kuwait City has a wide variety of health and fitness options. Kuwait’s crowning achievement, however, is the Talise Spa at Jumeirah Messilah Beach Hotel & Spa, located in the capital city.
  • Cooked rice with chickpeas and raisins and chicken legs is the national dish of Machboos dakkus, an aromatic mixture of cooked rice with chickpeas, raisins, and chicken legs.
  • Many beautiful beaches can be found in Kuwait, including the pristine Messilah Beach at the southern end of the capital, Kuwait City.
