My daughter is a medical student studying in Russia. She came home for a holiday and on her way back she was advised by the Airport authorities to go for a fresh passport since the passport picture is old and her present appearance looks a little different. She got a new passport and the old passport was cancelled. However, her student visa to Russia is in the old passport. which was got cancelled. Does she have to apply for a fresh visa now? If yes, does she have to go through the same visa application process? Is there any method that the embassy could transfer her visa to the new passport? Please advise.
