About Gambia
The Gambia is a West African country that borders the North Atlantic Ocean to the west. The smallest country on the African continent, with an area of 11,295 km2, is roughly one-third the size of Belgium or slightly less than twice the size of Delaware. With the exception of the shoreline, the former British colony forms an enclave within Senegal. It is easy to apply for Gambia Visa
The country’s population is 1,9 million people (2015). The majority of the population lives along the coast. The Gambia’s population is made up of numerous ethnic groups, with Mandinka accounting for roughly one-third of the population, followed by Fula, Wolof, and Jola. In the Islamic Republic of Gambia, Muslims make up more than 95 percent of the population.
Why is the Gambia famous?
- The Gambia provides unrivaled access to the sun, sand, and sea, which is typically only a few steps from your hotel.
- The Abuko Nature Reserve and Kachikally Crocodile Pool are two examples of natural habitats found throughout the country.
- Apart from Banjul’s beautiful beaches, there are several intriguing sights to see that don’t require you to put on your swimsuits, such as Albert Market and Arch 22.
- Few sites in the world can compare to The Gambia’s birdwatching; just ask Chris Packham, who visits year after year.
- One of our most popular lodges is Mandina Lodges, which consists of nine wonderfully constructed lodges built on and off the water and hidden in the African jungle on a mangrove-lined tributary of the River Gambia.
